The boys varsity soccer team defeated the Amherst Tigers for the first time in three years last Friday at Amherst. Senior captain Clay Carpenter netted the first goal of the game off a well placed free kick from about 40 yards out. Mike Obermeier had his best game of the season as he completely dominated his own 18 box and stone walled shot after shot from Amherst. After the half Amherst was finally able to put a point on the board but the Wildcats answered when Matt Troidl pressured a nervous Amherst goalie who coughed up the ball allowing Zak Sauer to slot home his sixth goal of the season. Final score Depew 2 Amherst 1.
